Agent Skills for Writers: Idea to Final Draft
Skills in the Writers topic take on one stage of the writing process rather than the whole job. Some help you decide what a piece is and why it exists now; others gather what you need to know, order the argument or story, produce a complete draft, cut and correct it, or get it out the door. The through-line is voice: it belongs in every stage, not saved for a final polish. Use the ranked list by finding the stage where you are actually stuck, then reading the entries for that sub-topic. If you stall at the blank page, start with idea or research skills. If you have a draft you cannot finish, look at revise and publish. Pick one skill for the bottleneck, not one for each stage.

Frequently asked questions
- How is the list ordered?
- It is ranked by observed search demand, with direct matches to the topic placed first. No single publisher can take more than a capped share of the list.
- Should I load a skill for every stage at once?
- No. The sub-topics map to distinct stages: idea, research, outline, draft, revise, and publish. Start with the stage where your process is breaking down, and add another only when that stage is handled.
- Where does voice fit if it is not a separate sub-topic?
- Voice runs through the whole process rather than sitting in its own stage. Treat it as a constraint on every skill you load, from choosing the piece to shipping it.
- What does a publish-stage skill actually cover?
- Publish means the piece has to leave the desk. Skills here address the last step between a finished draft and a piece that is out in the world.
